Each year the Cancer Council runs several fundraising events called the Relay For Life across the world.
2011 will be my 3rd year participating in the Relay For Life in remembrance of my Mum who lost her battle with cancer in 2001.
The 8-bit Heroes is a team of unique & awesome individuals from QLD who have banded together to raise awareness & funding in the battle against Cancer.
No matter our personal motivations, as a group of friends & family we aim to make others aware of this important cause & walk, run, jog, skip, hop, twirl & skidaddle through the Brisbane Relay For Life in October 2011!
Most people know someone who has or had Cancer, or know someone who has been impacted by someone they know having Cancer.
Each year, more than 20,000 Queenslanders are diagnosed with cancer and 7,000 Queenslanders will lose their battle with cancer.
The Cancer Council Queensland is not government funded. A few of the benefits of your donations and involvement can result in as little as helping pay for a wig for a patient receiving treatment, or as much as assisting in cost of transport & accommodation for patients & families receiving treatment.
I walk the Relay For Life with my friends & family in remembrance and support of these strong individuals, but in particular for my Mum whom I miss every day.
